Off-Season Diary

Greetings from UBC!  For these of you who don't know, I am currently residing at UBC taking classes at the Sauder School of Business.  It certainly has been an adjustment, but overall, the move upwards in the educational ladder has not been too dramatic.  I hope I am still able to say that after my math midterm tomorrow!  So far this off-season, things have been relatively quiet...but thats all about to change.

As we quickly approach October, it feels like it has been ages since I was behind the wheel.  The last time I drove a racecar was July 21-22, in Edmonton, where I also had my best Atlantic race.  JULY!!! Its been exactly two months, and I feel like it has been years.  I long so much for the feeling of a new season, a new challenge.  After watching the Formula One race last night, I couldn't believe my ears when drivers were complaining that it was 'raining too hard to race'.  Maybe they forgot that they are in some of the most enviable seats in world.  It reminded me how much I love the chaos that is rain racing.  However, I feel like my unquenched thirst for driving will soon be cured, as I have some exciting tests and deals on the horizon.  And so, like every racing season before it, the long grueling season may begin...

but this season will not be like every other season.  My first test may be in an Indy Pro Series car, which means I will be driving on an oval again.  We are working on a deal with a fantastic company to put together a full package for the year in the Atlantic series.  Unlike the years before, this year looks like a breakout year.  I also am approaching the season differently than in the past.  If this partnership becomes official, I will be looking to spend every effort (and dollar) to ensuring a successful season.  It will be year where I challenge for race wins, and do what I love to do: compete, and burn rubber.
